The latest attack on workers: Bill C-525

On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, Private Members' Bill C-525 was introduced by Blaine Calkins, Conservative member of Parliament for Wetaskiwin, Alberta. The Bill proposes significant amendments to Canadian labour legislation that would alter the certification and decertification rules for union members.
Convention Participation Initiative for Equality Groups 2013

The CEP National Equity Committee would like you to participate at the CEP Convention scheduled for August 30 – September 1, 2013 in Toronto. All CEP members who self-identify in one or more of the equality groups (GLBT, Racialized Workers, Indigenous Workers and Workers with Disabilities) are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to experience the CEP National Convention. The CEP will pay for all costs involved in attending Convention for the successful candidates.

The CEP National Young Workers Committee would like you to participate at the CEP Convention scheduled for August 30 – September 1st, 2013 in Toronto. All CEP members under the age of 30 with a strong union spirit are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to experience our Union's National Convention. The National Union will pay for all costs involved in attending this convention for those successful candidates. There will be eight (8) recipients chosen (two from each region).

 

CEP attends Congress of the International Federation of Journalists

DUBLIN – Vice-President Media Peter Murdoch addresses the Congress of the International Federation of Journalists meeting this week in Dublin. Among other issues the Congress has focused on the safety of journalists worldwide.

Over 200 delegates marched through Dublin Wednesday evening in memory of the more than 400 journalists killed since the Congress last met in 2009.

Unifor: A strong, new, bold union for Canadian workers

TORONTO – The new Canadian union being formed by the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP) and the Canadian Auto Workers union (CAW) will be named Unifor.  The name and logo were unveiled today during a packed press conference of 200 local leaders, members, community supporters and allies.
