Western Region Scholarship Winners
Scholarship Winner: Hanna Davis
Hanna Davis of Duncan, British-Columbia has been selected by an independent jury to receive a Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada Scholarship.
Hanna works at the office of Jean Crowder, NDP MP and is a member in good standing of CEP Local 232.
The criteria to select the winners are academic achievements and a two‑thousand‑word essay on "What the labour movement means to me?"
Every year CEP awards twelve scholarships of $2000 each across Canada. Three are awarded in the Atlantic region, three in Quebec, three in Ontario and three in the Western provinces.
"Our Scholarship Program reflects the long lasting interest of our membership in higher education", commented CEP National President Dave Coles. "On behalf of our membership I would like to congratulate Hanna for the award. We know that the money will be put to good use".
Hanna has been admitted to start her first year in the J.D. (Law) program at the University of Victoria's Faculty of Law in September. Her goal is to specialize in human rights and/or labour law so that she can continue to work toward the principles of fairness, equity and human rights.

Scholarship Winner: James Dumont
James Dumont of Cowichan Bay, British-Columbia has been selected by an independent jury to receive a Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada Scholarship.
James is the son of Michel Dumont who works at Catalyst Paper – Crofton Mill. He is a member of CEP Local 1132.

James is currently enrolled at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). He is taking the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Program.
