Unifor welcomes 69 new members working at Concorde Airport Services in the Calgary International Airport, who voted almost 85% in favour of joining the union.

“We are thrilled these aviation workers have exercised their right to join a union, and have chosen Unifor,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.

“Democracy at work starts with having a say in your working conditions.”

The certification for this unit took place March 8, 2024, and is assigned to Unifor Local 4050.

These workers perform pre-gate customer care ambassador services which include commercial dispatch, and assistance with bus and hotel vehicles on airport property for passenger pickup.

They also provide passengers with information on the airport, nearby hotels, and transportation, help passengers that are processing through the international terminal and provide in-terminal transportation for passengers who require mobility assistance.

The Concorde members decided to join a union after enduring bullying, favouritism, and disrespect in the workplace. They also were concerned with fair compensation and keeping up with the cost of living.

The organizing campaign began on Jan. 18, 2024.
