Western Region Hosts “Train the Trainer” Session for Telco National Campaign
On June 16 CEP National Researcher Guy Caron met with representatives from CEP telecommunications locals of the Western Region to introduce the national campaign: “Good Jobs, Great Service, and Don’t Outsource Canadian Telecommunications Jobs!”
Telco locals from across the west met in Saskatoon to hear why corporations choose to outsource work and the serious consequences to service and jobs in Canadian.
Members attending the session learned that a 2005 report from Deloitte and Touche on off-shoring stated 70% of companies have had a negative experience with 44% not seeing any cost savings. Almost 50% cited hidden costs as their biggest problem.
As Telco locals prepare for negotiations they will be educating their members on the impact contracting out has on their jobs, communities and service.
Local representatives at the session shared horror stories of contracting out and warned that the company’s response to “Co-source’ or “Partner” is just another form of contracting out or Outsourcing.
